MUSIC:

Sorry if I missed last week. I've been busy with other things like the Daily Dynasty blog.
THIS WEEK:
Artist: Musiq Soulchild
Album: Aijuswanaseing(2000)
Genre: R&B/Neo Soul
RATING:
4 out of 5 stars.

This is my stuff right here. From the moment I bought the CD, I remember having it on repeat all day long. I First heard hit single "Just friends(Sunny)" off the Nutty Professor Soundtrack. Musiq came at the right time when Neo Soul was on the rise. If you weren't already a Neo Soul fan before... You were now after you heard Musiq's debut album. With original songs that just sound real lyrical as if he was having a convo with you. From the song "You and Me" about a girl who's been around but still in love with(Where do you think Lil' Wayne got his lyrics for his "Prostitute Song" from?), to "Seventeen" where he finds out the girl he's dating is.. you guessed it, Seventeen. And then he hit us with the super ballad "Love" that goes deep into the meaning of it. I mea to get a better understanding of what the hype is about then juss listen to it.

SOUNDS LIKE:
Stevie Wonder and D'angelo's voice mixed together layed on some hip hop beats and smooth jams.

SONGS TO DOWNLOAD:
I mean if you don't already know what songs are good from this CD then ur an idiot...but for the people who havent heard the whole CD. Try DLing "My Girl", "L' is gone", "Speechless", and "Poparatzi".

MOVIE OF THE WEEK:

ETERNAL SUNSHINE
of the spotless mind. (2004)

GENRE:
Romantic Comedy/Fantasy/Drama

Director:
Michel Gondry(Be Kind Rewind)
Who's in it?:
Jim Carrey(Bruce Almighty)
Kate Winslet(Titanic)
Whats The Deal?:
Joel(Jim Carrey) has just found out his Ex-Girlfriend Clementine(Kate)had him erased from her mind(Yes erased, erased) through an experimental procedure. Still hurt from the fresh wounds from the relationship, he decides to get the same procedure. As the erasing starts from latest memory of Clementine, it tells/shows a backward story of how their relationship became shitty. Though half-way through the procedure, Joel realizes he is still in love with her and doesn't want to go on with erasing his last memories of her. Stuck in his memories with Clementine he tries to hold on to their experiences together as they're being erased one by one. But after the procedure will Joel remember her?

Why Should You Watch It?:
It's one of my all time favorite movies. Directed by French Director Michel Gondry who has already done plenty of odd movies(Science of Sleep & Be Kind Rewind). To me it's one of the best love stories ever told. It's a sad, funny, romantic, heartbreaking, complex, movie that'll make you laugh and cry at the same time. Unlike most love stories, it starts off where the two people absolutely hate each other but then still find the ability to fall in love with each other all over again. I mean if your tired of watching the same "Boy falls in love with girl, then they get married" type of movies then try somethin different. I guarantee you, this movie is different!

And if you want a refill on noodles, they provide that for $1 i believe (or sometihing like that). They've also got great egg roll appetizers and vegetable pho for the non-meat eaters. Their service is a bit questionable. But what foreign speaking restaurant isn't?

CHECK US OUT!

THE DAILY DYNASTY

Well, the inevitable has happend. We(Robert and I) started our own Lakers Blog here at blogspot named Daily Dynasty. Took a while just to figure a name. We tried "Showtime", "L.A.kers", "Lightsout"(which is probably my favorite) and ended with "Daily Dynasty". It has that newspaper sound to it dont it?. Well the idea for this blog came from Robert who then saw my blogspot and gave me a "serious proposition" to start our own Lakers blog, being that we both are die hard Laker fans. And so we did. Things are still in the works, but if you're interested please go and check it out.
So for new updates on Lakers. Just go on Daily Dynasty.

8-1

The face says it all in this picture. Lakers pull out another (106-109) win against the Chicago Bulls. Which I believe should have been an easy win but the Bulls stayed in the game thanks to their rookie guard Derrick Rose. But Rose couldn't do it alone. He had Backcourt mate Ben Gordon alongside with him that kept the Bulls in the game. But again, their Bigs were almost a non-factor.

I know this post is a day late but whatever. Pau Gasol came out BLAZING with 22 points in the first half and ending with 34 points and 6 rebounds. That man could not miss! Kobe added 21 points and 6 assists. And Lamar, man...that man filled up the box again with 10pts, 8rebs, 5ast, 3stls, AND 3blks... fouled out in the fourth. But even though Lakers did well, the thing was Bulls were right there with us every step of the way led by Rose who had 25 points and 9 assists by the end of the night. So once again it was the guards that hurt us the most.
Though the Lakers came out with another win, I myself was not impressed. We gave up 109 points(when their avaerage is less than 100) and let them shoot 43%. Bulls won the rebounds(+5) and their bench scored nearly 40 points compared to our bench who had 29 points. What happend to holding teams to 86pts at 37% shooting? I mean yeah we won but comming off a terrible game against Detroit with 3 days rest? C'mon dood! We need to tighten our shit up!
Up Next is Shaq's Pheonix Suns who seem to be doing pretty good. Added Matt Barnes and moved Grant Hill to be the 6th man making their bench that much more better. We'll see though. Should be another good game tonight.

HOTSPOTS:

Mr. Lee's Korean BBQ.
This place looks like juss some place u pass by and don't even think to look twice at. BUT DON'T SLEEP! Especially if ur a fan of Korean BBQ. Now if ur not Korean don't expect to get top notch service(haha) but reguardless of the service, it's still a good place to eat. They give you a buffet of all the beef brisket you want(They also have pork, pork belly, and some other shit) with a bowl of salad and a bunch of sides of things you don't exactly know but are still good. Now if your not a fan of that either, you can always ask for a menu and they serve a variety of things like soups and stuff (Can't really tell you what cuz i've never seen the menu but i've seen people order). But who needs the menu when you can get some beef brisket with some rice patties dipped in soy sauce and vinegar. Say it with me now..."YUMM!" and best of all the Buffet is only $10! It's one of those places where you cook you own and you end up smelling like food when you leave...but IT'S ALL WORTH IT!

LOCATED AT:
12300 South St.
Artesia, Ca. 90703

MOVIE OF THE WEEK:

THE ORPHANAGE(2007)

GENRE:
Suspense/Drama/Horror

Director:
J.A. Bayona
Whos in it?:
Belen Rueda (some lady)
Fernando Cayo (i dont know either)

Whats The Deal?:
Like "Oldboy", "The Orpanage" is also a foreign film. Except of course its not korean. It comes from Spain from a first time Director Mr. Bayona. Laura (Belen Rueda) brings her family (Consisting of her Husband and Adopted Son, Simon) back to an old house which was an Orphanage where she was raised. Durring their stay her son Simon has made some imaginary friends...or are they? Simon then disappears and everyone including police is convinced he's dead, except for Laura. She has no doubt in her mind that Simon was taken by his imaginary friends and alone she seeks for him with time against her. Month after, month after, month goes by and small clues lead her to closer and closer to her son. But will it be too late?

Why Should You Watch It?:
To me, it's one of the best Ghost Stories. Produced by Guillermo Del Toro(Pan's Labyrynth, Hell Boy I & II) which really does have a feel of his movies. Has some of the most creepiest scenes without the use of CG(That most movies pretty much rely on now a days). But besides that it's a Horror flick, it's also a great drama. It's a great puzzle movie where in the end, you'll feel satisfied. It's one of the greatest movies you've never seen!

(7-1)

DEFEATED.

Lakers played poorly in this 106-95 game with The Detroit Pistions who handed us our first loss. The Motor city came out on top as the better team last night against the L.A. team who had hardly put up a fight, until the very last minutes. One reason, they simply wanted it more than we did. Detroit, known as a defensive team showed just that. Making the Lakers panic and shoot quick jumpers instead of moving the ball trying to find the open man or just simply kickin' into the post which we lacked points in the paint. Kobe's 96' rookie mate Allen Iverson had his way with the lakers getting almost any shot he wanted and creating for his team. I really don't want to go into stats right now because I know it'll just piss me off and also cause I don't want to go to NBA.com and seeing the headlines of us no longer being undefeated.
And if it wasn't already bad enough that we weren't making our shots, we also looked bad on the defensive end. Our point guards were getting beat off the dribble leading to penetration which someone had to rotate in leaving another man open. There were also times when Bynum would double way too early leaving his man open, and worst of all hardly anyone rotated on bynums man. I mean got dammit dood! someone help his ass out (even if he doubled too early) because you would rather defend a guy with an easier basket than the man outside. Someone would be bound to run out if there were a shooter.
All in all it was a frustrating game for the Lakers. Only good thing I can really say is they never quit. They played poorly on both ends all four quarters but still managed to cut their 20 point lead towards the end of the fourth, to 11. But it's okay Laker fans, we'll get through this loss and hopefully become a more hungrier team. I call this loss a wake up call, showing that we need to work hard on certain areas and we should fight every game. Up next is The Chicago Bulls and the 2008 No.1 pick Derrick Rose on Tuesday at Staples Center. Hopefully we clean up our shit and come out hard and shouldn't that hard of a game.

ALSO: Kwame Brown had a pretty good game against us. He had a nice block on Gasol and defended Bynum pretty well. Also played a good pick and roll, which was all a big "fuck you" and "thanks for trading me" statement to the whole Lakers organization.

MOVIE OF THE WEEK:

OLDBOY(2003)

GENRE:
Drama/Mystery/Thriller

Director:
Chan-Wook Park
Whos in it?:
Min-Sik Choi (some dood)
Ji-Tae Yu (some girl)

Whats The Deal:
It's a korean flick about this dood Dae-Su Oh(Min-sik choi) who is imprisoned for 15 years without even knowing the reason why. This dood is released; course as a bitter man now 15 years older. Through the majority of the movie he's got only one thing on his mind. To find and kill the man who sent him to prison. Stopping at nothing to do so. Really not giving a fuck about anything or anyone...or does he? There are other crazy twists in the movie that you'll have to juss watch and find out for yourself.

Why Should You Watch It?:
Because its BADASS! It's presented by Tartan Asia Extreme who put out the craziest movies that come out of asia. There's sex, violence, torture scenes and a crazy fight sequence. Very cool in the Tarantino fashion of movies. It's a must watch!

7-0

Need i day more?
yesterday the Lakers held off the New Orleans "Hairnets" to a 93 - 86 victory and now makin' them the only undefeated team in the nba.

Fisher had a great shooting night after poor shooting the night before against the Mavs. Bynum had 4 blocks in the first half!...though it wasnt dwight howard status (Who had 10 blocks that same night against weak ass Oaklahoma City Thunder[stupid name]), well take it! Odom only had 2 pts but led the team of steals(3) and rebounds(9) last night. Pau again with another consistant performance. The bench didn't produce much last night but enough to help hold the win. CP3 showed more of an MVP game than Bryant did that night with 30 pts and 13 ast. makinn' it his 7th straight game with +20pts and 10ast. Bryant on the other hand had a bad shooting game...BUT! sealed the game with the dagger 3 pointer in Posey's FACE!. Though towards the end it was a close game, the lakers' 21 point lead ending the first half gave them a well enough cushion to push thru the game without having hardly any of our shots falling.
Up next.. BIG BAD KWAME BROWN and the DETROIT PISTONS.
It should be a good game and we get to meet AI for the second time this season on a new team.

MUSIC:

Every week I'll be talkin about my pick of the week as far as music goes. Sometimes new music, sometimes old.

THIS WEEK:
Locksley - "Don't Make ME Wait"
Genre: Rock/Alternative

They have vocals and harmonies reminiscent of bands like "The Beatles" and "The Beach Boys". With hip guitar riffs and very catchy hooks and melodies, it's hard not to love and listen to this album over and over. With having musical influences from plenty of UK bands like The Beatles to The Hives, it really shows in their music with the variety of songs. Their lyircs, a story. Almost worthy of making a musical with (Like what they did with Beatles songs in "Across The Universe" and Abba songs in "Mamma Mia!") just with this album alone.

SOUNDS LIKE:
A modern version of The Beatles and The Beach Boys.

SONGS TO DOWNLOAD:
All of them...no joke. But try their 1st single "all over again" and also DL "Don't Make Me Wait".

RATING:
4.5 stars out of 5. INSTANT CLASSIC.
